Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal data CoAudio collects on this website, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR.
1. Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is CoAudio Ltd., a company registered in Malta under number C 117362, with its registered office at 86 Merchants Street, Valletta, VLT 1177, Malta. You can reach us about anything in this policy at hello@coaudio.co.
2. What we collect and why
| Data | When | Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Name, email address, which form you used, date and time | When you join the waitlist or reserve a VIP spot | To tell you about the CoAudio launch, launch pricing, and the Kickstarter campaign | Your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw it at any time. |
| IP address, browser type, requested pages, and similar technical log data | Automatically, on every visit | To deliver the site, keep it secure, and prevent abuse. Processed by our hosting provider, Cloudflare, in the normal operation of its network. | Our legitimate interest in running a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Page view count: the page you opened, your IP address and browser type, received by our analytics provider | Automatically, on every visit | To count how many people visit each page. No cookie is set and no profile is built; we see totals, not individuals. | Our legitimate interest in knowing whether the site is being seen (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| A preview access cookie | While the site is in private preview and you enter the preview password | To remember that you have entered the password so you do not have to re-enter it on every page | Strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for |
We use a cookie-free page view counter and no advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not build profiles of visitors. See the cookie policy for the full list of cookies and similar technologies.
3. How we use your data
We use your name and email address only to contact you about CoAudio: product news, launch timing, early-access pricing, and the crowdfunding campaign. We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.
4. Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf under contracts that require them to protect it:
- Cloudflare, Inc. hosts this website and stores the waitlist sign-ups in its Workers KV storage. Cloudflare may process data in the United States and other countries. Transfers outside the European Economic Area rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
- BasisCMS provides the page view counter. Each page load sends the page name to its servers, hosted on Supabase, together with the technical request data any web server receives. It stores counts, not visitor profiles.
- Email service providers we may use to send launch updates, if and when we start sending them. They will only receive your name and email address and may only use them to send our messages.
We may also disclose data if the law requires it or to protect our rights, and to a successor if CoAudio is acquired or merges with another business.
5. How long we keep it
We keep waitlist sign-ups until the launch campaign has ended and follow-up communication is complete, and in any case no longer than 24 months after our last contact with you, unless you ask us to delete your data sooner. Technical log data held by our hosting provider is retained for a short period in line with its standard retention settings.
6. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you and receive a copy.
- Rectify data that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Erase your data (the "right to be forgotten"). If you ask us to, we will delete your waitlist entry and stop contacting you.
- Restrict how we process your data while a question about it is resolved.
- Port your data: receive it in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
- Object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent at any time. This does not affect processing that happened before you withdrew it.
- Complain to a supervisory authority. In the EU that is the data protection authority of the country where you live or work. Our lead supervisory authority is the Office of the Information and Data Protection Commissioner in Malta (idpc.org.mt). In the UK it is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@coaudio.co. We will respond within one month. We may ask you to confirm that the request comes from the email address on our list before we act on it.
7. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Sign-up data is stored with our hosting provider and is only accessible to the CoAudio team through a password-protected admin area. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access.
8. Children
This website is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product and the website develop. We will post the new version here with a new effective date. If the change is significant and we already hold your email address, we will let you know by email.
