HOME VIDEO SAGA 4K UHD collector edition
SCROLL

One saga. Every format. Fifty years.

Drawing on a personal collection of Star Wars editions gathered from around the world, HOME VIDEO SAGA traces the history of formats, the evolution of picture and sound, and the journey of one saga across every era of physical media.

A film for people who still remember what it felt like to own a movie, open it, watch it, rewatch it, explore the bonus features, and keep it on the shelf.

It started with one screening in 1982

In 1982, in Grenoble, I saw The Empire Strikes Back with my grandfather.

He chose it almost at random. I was eight years old. I was terrified. I was hooked.

More than 40 years later, that moment is still with me.

HOME VIDEO SAGA comes from that memory. And from everything that came after: the discs, the tapes, the reels, the bonus features, the ritual of putting a movie on at home.

The story begins in the future

2138

After five years of global blackout, electricity returns. Streaming is gone. Broadcasts have vanished. Films only survived through physical media, scattered, forgotten and kept alive by collectors.

Inside an archive center dedicated to cinema's greatest sagas, an instructor droid teaches a young unit why these objects mattered.

From there, the film opens into the real history of home cinema: the evolution of picture and sound, the aspect ratios, the formats, and the editions that carried one saga from one era to the next.

Physical home video timeline

Each format changed something.

01How films looked.
02How they sounded.
03How we collected them.
04How we rewatched them.
05How a movie could become part of a home.

The film will be available in English and French.

Made with real craft

The project combines live-action footage, CGI, 3D imagery, set work, visual effects, motion-control shooting, original music, HDR finishing and immersive sound.

No generative AI.

The final film will be delivered in HDR10+ and Dolby Vision for picture, with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X for sound.

I want this film to feel handmade. Something worth owning.

Already underway: trailer, set design, visual concepts, actors, composer, art direction and collector edition planning.

The Kickstarter funds the rest: shooting, VFX, 3D, post-production, authoring, pressing, packaging and manufacturing.

Who is this for?

If you love films, home cinema, physical media, HDR and immersive audio, this is for you.

If Star Wars has been part of your life since childhood, this is for you.

If you miss the golden age of LaserDisc and DVD, this is for you.

If you remember bonus menus, hidden easter eggs, thick booklets, strange editions from other countries, commentary tracks, making-of documentaries and discs that felt like events, this is for you.

If you care about packaging, authoring and the craft behind a great edition, this is for you.
